Michigan Chapter 99s Meeting March 9, 2008 Comstock Inn Owosso
Meeting opened at 11:30AM
Present: Patty Smart, Patti Uncapher, Shiela Ralph, Susan Siporin, Elaine Evans, Gini Southerland, Claire Ojala, Nancy Walters, Lynn Baginski, Rosemary Seiracki, Kelly Jost, Rebecca Duggan, Nicki Acker, Gloria Eby-Buck, and Julie MacKay.
491/2 and guests present for AE Brunch: Bob Ralph, Phil Seizinger, Neal Starks, Keith Ojala, Bonnie Davis, Dick Acker, Jim MacKay, Mark & Lynn Phleeger, Mike & Pam Saile(CAP wing commander), Guest Speaker Dan Comrie and his wife Sue Comrie, CAP scholarship recipient Kailyn Pearsall and parents Sandra and Roger Pearsall.
Minutes of Feb approved.
Officer Reports: Treasurer: Report Approved and filed. Name change on CD Michigan chapter final. National City acct going to Demand Note.
Membership: Nicki Acker reported 1 new member paid for 08 Bev Price. 2 more Guardian Angels Kelly Jost for Kacy Anderson-Battle Creek area Rebecca Duggan for Kim Rienstra - New Hudson area. Kim's a mechanic.
Chairman: Rebecca reported attending February Mid-Winter NCS Meeting in Chicago. Mid-Winter meeting will be held during Section meeting starting in 2010. Feb 09 will be the last Mid Winter Meeting. NCS Hosting the 09 International Conference in Chicago July 22-26. Michigan Chapter responsible for publicity and and photography. Northwoods Chapter has a video which will be used at April 08 NCS in Iowa and August International Conference in Alaska as invitation to 2009 International. Chapter will need to write articles for 99s Magazine and for other Lynn Baginski and Rebecca Duggan will attend NCS Spring Meeting in Iowa in April. Lynn Baginski volunteered to chair the NCS Conference Fall 09. Sue Siporin and Nancy Walters will do the Registration for 2009 Fall NCS Meeting. More volunteers and help is needed for both endeavors.
Committees: Mary Von Mach Scholarship: Katlyn Pearsall will today receive her Scholarship; Clarie Ojala officiating will present the award. Mary Von Mach Scholarship Award financial report presented to Michigan Chapter IAW the scholarships by-laws. Report ending 31 Dec 08.
Airmarking: Kelly Jost reported 5/17 at Roscommon airmarking sign-up will be available at April meeting at Troy. Second airmark will be Mason Jewett Sept. and Spring of 09 Painting with 3 Rivers Chapter.
NEW Scholarship Committee: Linda Haynes will get information from International regarding the Formation of Scholarships. Committee consists of Nicki Acker, Becky Smith, Rosemary Sieracki, Sue Siporin, Nancy Walters, Elaine Evans, Linda Haynes. Claire Ojala will serve as an advisor to the committee. NOTE: Mary Von Mach Scholarship committee members are Gini Southerland, Clare Ojala, Nancy Walters, and Linda Langrill. Mary Anglin resigned and Gini Southerland replaced her.
Aerospace Ed: Pinch Hitter chair Julie MacKay has only 3 paid students We need 10 registered students. Personal Contact is needed to get students by April 15th.
Special Merger Committee : Patti Uncapher reported the final papers will be signed as of today. We have the 2 signatures for the Name Change for the State. Financial Reports were provided and a copy of the Merger Acceptance from the State has been received. Patti Reported the Committee worked well together, was cohesive and hard working. Rebecca will ask Barbara Lewinski to write an article for 99s News.
Old Business:
Badges: Motion made by Lynn Baginski for Chapter funds to pay all badges costs for 99s and 49 and one-halves. Seconded by Sue Siporin. Motion passed. After discussion Badge design was decided as Rectangular Blue Badge with Michigan Shape changed so bottom line of Michigan is straight with names across top. Pam Palermi received design comments and paper pictures were passed around for final voting choices. Magnetic badge will be investigated.
Calendar: Kelly reported the Calendar Fund Raiser will be a promotional calendar donated at no cost to the Chapter. Permission is needed for the use of the International Logo. Rosemary Sieracki will contact 99s HQ regarding permission. NCS Fall of 08 may have calendars as Gifts. Calendar will contain aerial photos of Michigan airports to include those with 99s compass rose airmarkings. Need high resolution quality digital photos. Please send digital photos of people and airports to Kjost@cscos.com
New Business: Chapter By-Laws and standing Rules will be combined with Membership Roster into a booklet by Lynn Baginski. Rosemary Sieraki will assist in organizing the booklet for all members. Committee Descriptions will be included. Confirmed that prior voting on the By-Laws was passed so the booklet will be forthcoming.
2008 Gaylord Air Fair. Saturday, June 21st, 10:00am – 5:00pm. Michigan Chapter has been invited to participate as exhibitors. Website promotion starts in April. Need Chapter decision by April. Members to think about the invitation and will vote at April meeting.

Michigan Air Tour 08 flyers available now. Chet and Patti Uncapher are Chairmen of the event. Chet presented a snappy invitation .
Margie Richardson, Chair of International Museum, is in intensive care. Anchorage Alaska International Convention July 08.
Chapter Meeting at Troy will be held at Troy Airport at 11:00am on April 12th. Hostesses are Gini Southerland and Linda Haynes. Special guest speaker(s) – Larry McKillop accomplished Agriculture and Air Guard pilot. Dinner at Papa Vinos. ALSO... 491/2 initiation ceremony.
